On DeadZone Core, dying isn't a five-second inconvenience. Take too many bites and the infection sets in — a real, staged clock counting down on your character. Let it run out and the survivor you built is gone for good.
The infection clock
Every wound from the infected pushes your infection higher. It climbs in stages, each one biting harder than the last, until the clock runs out. Find a cure in time and you claw your way back; ignore it and you cross a line you can't walk back from.
Die, then hunt your corpse
When you go down for the last time you turn Zee and respawn elsewhere — but everything you were carrying stays on your walking corpse where you fell. Race back and strip it before another survivor gets there first. Your gear is only ever as safe as your memory of where you died.
- Staged infection with a real countdown, not a status icon
- Permadeath when the clock expires — the character is gone
- Your loot persists on your infected corpse for anyone to claim
- A cure exists, if you can reach it in time
